Distance Learning Program

Our Distance Learning Program continues to evolve and is under construction to insure compliance with New York State laws for private schools. The present requirements include:

  1. Submission of a Mentoring Plan to Provident Living Academy for review and recommendations. Goals must include a projected reading list and anticipated project outline as well as academic goals.
  2. Quarterly Progress Reports that are filed by mail or e-mail to your reporting campus assist your family in attaining projected completion dates (accountability). Sample reporting documents are available for your convenience.
  3. Attendance Records filed quarterly. Please use the calendar system that will be mailed to you at the beginning of the school year. As a private school, state law allows us to record days of attendance.
  4. Distance students participate in testing through the website - themeasuringstick.com - twice per year. Testing in September establishes a baseline. Testing in May will show the percentage of progress. Testing should be submitted with the 1st and 4th Quarter reports.
  5. PLA will interact with your local school district to "have records transferred to the Spencerport Campus"
  6. On-campus social functions and educational activities are available for students wishing to participate. Please watch the school website calendar for announcements.
  7. Students residing more than three hours from the school must attend at least one PLA function per school year. Please consult your advisor for ideas of activities that qualify. Students living within a three hours radius of a PLA location must attend at least two functions per year.
  8. Telephone, e-mail and face to face support available after academic campus hours. Access to guidance counseling and mentoring support.
  9. Academic evaluations and recommendations.
  10. Access to provident living equipment to be used on site by anyone involved with the academy.
  11. Bi-weekly Field trip opportunities.
  12. Academic curriculum counseling.
